On Saturday, September 12, the whales decided they liked the waters off Coney Island, taking us much closer to New York City than we usually travel. Our 12:30 trip saw two whales, with the city and Coney Island’s amusement parks providing a beautiful backdrop. We extended the trip to give our passengers time to enjoy the sightings. Sometimes seeing wildlife means going a little farther, and that’s exactly what we did!
Our 4:30 trip headed back up and found one of those same whales. Thankfully, it had moved about five miles closer to Belmar, putting it roughly off the middle of Sandy Hook. We spent time watching the whale before heading home beneath an absolutely gorgeous September sunset. What a way to finish the day! 🌅
