It was a hot day on the beach but cool on the ocean 8/25

Hot out? Finished work and headed for afternoon whale watching. It was cooler on the ocean and had some nice breezes. There were reports of Minke whales off of Manasquan so that is where we headed. Along the way, saw dolphins, tuna, sharks, cow-nosed rays, and lots of bunker fish. After a while a Minke Whale appeared but would not stay around too long. Eventually, we saw 3 or 4 different Minke Whales. One crossed right in front of the boat. There was a lot of activity with fish jumping all over the place. Also saw a few Wilson’s storm petrels.
In terms of fish this summer, I can now recognize Mahi-Mahi, Sea Robin and everything else I call “a fish”! Another fun day with friends at Jersey Shore Whale Watch.
