Thursday, August 13 Trip Report 🐋☀️ — TWO WHALES & A SURPRISE BREACH!
What a beautiful day aboard the Jersey Girl! Calm seas, blue skies and plenty of bait as we headed north toward Sandy Hook. The ocean temperature was around 76°F, a big improvement from the 81°F water we were seeing earlier this week.
Our first whale wasn’t particularly active. I was up on the VIP deck with my camera and long lens, watching and waiting for him to do something. Suddenly I heard the whole boat erupt: “OH MY GOSH! OH MY GOSH!”
I’m looking through my camera thinking, What are they seeing? I don’t see anything!
Little did I know, almost behind my shoulder, a SECOND WHALE had appeared and BREACHED COMPLETELY OUT OF THE WATER! 🐋💥 And, of course, I was looking in exactly the wrong direction!
Hopefully somebody aboard got a photo or video of that incredible moment. If you caught the breach today, please send it to us!
We have plenty of trips all weekend, followed by Monday’s 12-hour Extended Offshore Whale Watching & Birding Trip, departing at 5:00 AM, with I believe only two seats remaining.
And what a pleasure it is running the newly repowered Jersey Girl. With her new engines, we have the speed and range to go wherever we need to go to find the whales. It really feels like nothing is out of reach.
There are only a few weeks of summer left. Make your reservation and get out on the legendary Jersey Girl! 🐋🌊☀️
