2026 Whale Watching Season Update: The Jersey Girl Is Getting Ready
The 2026 whale watching season is shaping up to be one of our best yet—and we’re excited to share an update with everyone who’s been asking when we’ll be back out on the water.
A Major Upgrade to the Jersey Girl
This offseason, we made a major investment in the Jersey Girl, including brand new engines and upgrades throughout the vessel. This wasn’t a quick patch job—it was a full commitment to making sure the boat runs stronger, faster, and more efficiently for years to come.
Our goal has always been to deliver the best whale watching experience in New Jersey, and these upgrades are a big part of that. When we return, you’ll notice the difference right away.
Why We Haven’t Started Trips Yet
We know many of you are eager to get back out on the ocean, and so are we. This spring has been unusually cold, and as a result, whale and dolphin activity has not been consistent yet along the New Jersey coast.
Rather than running trips when sightings are uncertain, we’ve chosen to wait until we can confidently deliver the kind of experience our guests expect—one where you have a real chance of seeing whales and dolphins.
That’s always been our philosophy: if we’re going out, we want it to be worth your time.
Looking Ahead to the 2026 Season
As ocean temperatures begin to rise and bait fish return in larger numbers, we expect whale activity to pick up in the coming weeks. Once that happens, we’ll be ready to go with a fully upgraded boat and an experienced crew.
The 2026 season is expected to be a long and exciting one aboard the Jersey Girl, with plenty of opportunities to see humpback whales, dolphins, and other marine wildlife just a few miles off the New Jersey shoreline.
