**Whale Watching Report: Sunday, November 24, 2024 – A Day to Remember**

Sunday was an unforgettable day for whale enthusiasts along the Jersey Shore. From my home overlooking the ocean in Belmar, New Jersey, I witnessed an extraordinary display of nature—between 7 to 10 whales within clear view, right from the comfort of my deck. Belmar was buzzing with excitement as humpback whales and their behaviors captivated everyone along the coast.

Confirmed mom and calf sighting this is the third time this summer we’ve seen the same mom and calf between here right along the beach and belmar and we also saw 20 miles out from belmar in July and June. Fantastic to see

### **Whale Watching in Belmar, NJ: A Day Like No Other**

Belmar, Spring Lake, Bay Head, and Point Pleasant were all alive with reports of whale activity on Sunday. A close friend from Avon called to share their sightings, but I didn’t even need to leave my home. The whales were everywhere, feeding close to shore as schools of baitfish moved inland.

Posting some of the day’s highlights on YouTube, I captured incredible drone footage of these magnificent creatures. One particularly memorable moment included a mother whale and her calf coming very close to shore, creating awe-inspiring scenes perfect for photography enthusiasts. Passersby on the Belmar boardwalk, many of whom are regular passengers on our Jersey Shore Whale Watch trips, marveled at the spectacle and even captured incredible photos from the beach.

### **Nature’s Show: Whales Everywhere from Morning to Evening**

The whales weren’t limited to a short appearance; they were active throughout the day. After taking a break in the morning, I returned in the afternoon to find whales still near Spring Lake. On a walk around 4:30 PM, I counted at least four visible to the naked eye from the boardwalk, much to the delight of everyone out for a stroll.

The weekend was truly special, showcasing why Belmar and the Jersey Shore are becoming whale-watching hotspots. These moments underline the unpredictable and thrilling nature of whale watching—something we bring to our passengers every trip aboard the *Jersey Girl*.
