Leaving the shark river inlet at Belmar Marina
We started our trip in heavy fog and light rain. We used our state-of-the-art live weather radar to avoid the storm and in doing so we found over 100 dolphins right off Spring Lake Beach. We then headed north going through huge schools of bunker fish, the whales’ preferred food. Our naturalist, Danielle, spotted a humpback whale inshore around the Monmouth Beach area. At the same time, the skies cleared to bright sunshine and the full boat enjoyed a spectacular humpback whale show!
One of the most exciting things about seeing a whale in the wild is simply encountering an animal that still teeters on the brink of extinction. Humpback whales are still on the endangered species list in New Jersey. It is estimated that less than 1% of people living on the planet Earth will see a whale in their lifetime. The good news is, you can be part of that lucky 1% Don’t wait! Book your whale watching tour with us today
