September 11 — 25th Anniversary Remembrance Voyage

Twenty-five years later, we remember.

On Friday, September 11, we will host a special 25th Anniversary Remembrance Voyage aboard the Jersey Girl to New York Harbor.

Captain Charlie will be at the helm.

On September 11, 2001, Charlie was captain of a high-speed ferry when he answered the call to help evacuate people from Battery Park. His vessel became part of the extraordinary maritime response that carried hundreds of thousands of people away from Lower Manhattan that day.

Twenty-five years later, Charlie will return to those waters aboard the Jersey Girl.

During the voyage, Charlie will share his personal memories of September 11 in his own words and at his own pace — what he saw, what he experienced, and what it was like to answer the call that morning.

As evening falls over New York, we will make our way into New York Harbor to view the Tribute in Light from the water.

Each September 11, two beams of light rise into the night sky from Lower Manhattan in remembrance of those who were lost.

For the 25th anniversary, that remembrance will extend well beyond the twin beams. Buildings, landmarks and bridges throughout New York will join in illuminating their facades in blue, creating a powerful tribute across the city and harbor.

From the water, passengers will have a unique view of the New York skyline as the city comes together in blue light to remember September 11, 2001.

Seeing the Tribute in Light, the illuminated skyline and the harbor itself — the same waters that played such an important role in the evacuation of Manhattan 25 years ago — will make this an especially meaningful journey.

This is not a celebration or a sightseeing attraction.

It is a voyage of remembrance.

We will remember those who were lost, honor the first responders, and recognize the thousands of people — including the mariners who answered the call — who stepped forward to help when they were needed most.

There will be moments when Charlie speaks and shares his memories, along with time simply to reflect as we travel through New York Harbor.

Weather Conditions Matter

Reaching New York Harbor includes approximately 90 minutes of coastal travel along the New Jersey shoreline.

Because that portion of the journey is on the open ocean, we will operate this voyage only when weather and sea conditions are favorable for a comfortable trip. Once we enter New York Harbor, the waters are considerably more protected.

We want this to be a meaningful and comfortable evening, and we will not compromise that experience simply to operate the trip.

If weather or sea conditions require us to cancel, every passenger will receive a 100% refund.

Advance Reservations Are Important

A voyage of this length requires advance planning, crew and a minimum number of passengers in order to operate.

If you are considering joining us, we ask that you reserve in advance rather than waiting until the day of the trip. Advance reservations allow us to know that there is enough participation to make this remembrance voyage possible.

If the minimum participation needed to operate the voyage is not reached, all reservations will receive a 100% refund.

There is no financial risk in reserving early. If we cancel because of weather conditions or insufficient participation, your payment will be refunded in full.

A portion of the proceeds from this voyage will be donated in remembrance of those lost on September 11.

We would be honored to have you join Captain Charlie and the crew of the Jersey Girl for this meaningful 25th anniversary journey.
