July 17 Whale Watching Trip – Cool Ocean Breeze, Stunning Whales, and a Perfect Jersey Shore Evening
There’s no better way to escape the heat and humidity of a New Jersey summer day than by heading out on the water with Jersey Shore Whale Watch. On the afternoon of July 17, 2025, as temperatures soared across towns like Belmar, Asbury Park, Long Branch, and Sea Bright, our passengers found refreshing relief aboard our 110-foot whale watching boat, Jersey Girl.
The ocean breeze was just what everyone needed, and it wasn’t long before the wildlife put on an unforgettable show. Cruising northeast along the scenic Jersey Shore coastline, we made our way past the iconic towns of Sea Bright and Highlands. That’s when the excitement really began.
From over a mile away, our naturalists and guests spotted a humpback whale actively lunge feeding—a thrilling and rare behavior to witness so clearly. This whale was full of surprises, constantly shifting direction and keeping everyone on their toes. Just when you thought you could guess where he’d surface next, he popped up somewhere new!
Not far off, closer to the shoreline, a second humpback whale made an appearance. Though calmer and less animated—he didn’t show his tail—his presence added to the peaceful beauty of the trip.
As if that wasn’t enough, we also encountered a few playful Atlantic bottlenose dolphins, both at the start and end of the tour, delighting guests of all ages.
The entire day was filled with smiles, sea breezes, and awe-inspiring views. With the backdrop of a glowing summer sky and the stunning New Jersey coastline, it was a perfect reminder of why whale watching in Monmouth County has become one of the top things to do along the Jersey Shore.
