Whale Watching Trip Report – Saturday, June 21, 2025
Belmar, NJ – Jersey Shore Whale Watch
What a spectacular day on the ocean! Saturday, June 21st, gave us the kind of whale-watching experience that guests dream about—calm seas, beautiful weather, and nature putting on a show along the stunning New Jersey coastline. We ran three full-capacity trips aboard our 120-foot vessel, Jersey Girl, and each one was packed with incredible sightings, smiling faces, and even a few standing ovations.
We encountered two humpback whales on Saturday, and they were not the same pair we saw the day before—which is thrilling news for us and anyone hoping to see whales this summer. The presence of multiple different whales means that the waters off the Jersey Shore are rich with life right now, and the season is really kicking into high gear. We are entering peak whale-watching season, and every trip has the potential to deliver unforgettable moments.
Guests aboard all three tours were treated to views of bottlenose dolphins, cruising and playing in the waves near the boat. It’s always a joy to see these charismatic animals surf the wake, leap out of the water, and dart beneath the bow. On top of that, we even spotted several brown pelicans—an exciting and unusual bird to see this far north, reminding us just how dynamic and surprising the ocean ecosystem can be.
Our trips covered a wide stretch of the coast, from Belmar to Long Branch, and we were lucky enough to spot wildlife along much of the route. As we cruised past the beaches of Spring Lake, Avon-by-the-Sea, Bradley Beach, Ocean Grove, Asbury Park, Deal, and Allenhurst, guests enjoyed not only the marine life but also the scenic shoreline views. These historic beach towns offer the perfect mix of charm, beauty, and access to one of the East Coast’s richest marine habitats.
The excitement onboard was electric. People cheered, clapped, and even cried tears of joy as whales breached and dolphins played within view. There were no gimmicks, no screens—just nature at its best. For many of our guests, this was their first time seeing a whale in the wild, and the reactions were priceless.
We pride ourselves on offering not just a sightseeing tour, but an educational and immersive experience. Every trip is fully narrated by a professional naturalist who works in the field of marine science. Many of our team members are marine biology students and interns, eager to share their knowledge and passion with our guests. Young visitors often leave inspired, and adults walk away with a deeper appreciation for our ocean wildlife.
Our boat, Jersey Girl, is the only full-time whale-watching vessel in this part of New Jersey. She’s equipped with two levels of spacious seating, indoor air-conditioned areas, bathrooms, and a snack bar. We also proudly offer handicap-accessible boarding, making it easy for everyone to enjoy time on the water.
In addition to our public tours, Jersey Girl is available for private events, birthday celebrations, corporate outings, and more. And don’t forget about our Thursday Night Fireworks Cruise! Every Thursday, we head to Point Pleasant for a front-row seat to a dazzling fireworks show—all while cruising the ocean at sunset. It’s BYOB and you’re welcome to bring your own food, making it one of the best value nights out at the shore.
Tickets are going fast for the rest of June and early July. If you’re thinking about coming, we suggest booking early to guarantee your spot. Upcoming trips run Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week at 9:30 AM and 12:30 PM.
